Celebration and destruction, sharing the same podium,
a flood of emotion, running through me, today a big day for Canada, our boys, our hockey team. Crowds of people in the streets, canadian flags worn like badges, honoring our great country, Mayor Campbell wears his hockey shirt proudly, the maple leaf our sovereign sign. Red and white, without the blue, our adversaries today, the united states of america, showing their patriotism, on our home ice, the canadians shaking their fisted hands, wearing the red and white mittens, American feeling the heat, our humble people, standing strong, happy and proud, Canada a small nation in numbers, but a great nation of talent, and love. As i sit waiting for the game, flashes of destruction, on the news channel, bad news of mayhem, and destruction, an eight point eight quake rocks Chile, another struck Afganistan and Pakistan in the night, a reminder of an angry planet. haiti, and now Chile, catastrophy of unthinkable magnitude. haiti tries to put itself back together, floods now devestating the region, tearing at their hearts, and the new concrete that has been laid. Aftershocks reminding them of an angry world, their once beautiful island, now their prison, their warden bringing down more punishement. Large haunting eyes of the children, ripping my heart out. in a world far away, Europe in peril, storms and floods taking lives as we speak, to be Canadian, in a safe place, brings me to my knees, thanking God, for my warm bed. My heart with my hockey team, canadians reaching for gold, the sweet angelic figure skater, Joannie Rochette, who lost her mother, the day before her big performance, wearing her heart on her sleeve, Canada crying for her, her mother there to take her to greatness, holding her hand, rising her to stardom. Joannie will carry the flag in the closing ceremonies of the olympics, her mother walking her last walk with her, the Lord waiting at the end of the line, to take her home. Emotions on a roller coaster, Celebration and Destruction sharing the podium. happy and sad, at the same time, losing my sadness in the game, the game of hope for our nation Canada, keeping us united, and strong in the name of God. Amen
